Art Packs Launch

Curated Generative ARTifact collections inscribed utilizing Ordinal Theory on mother Bitcoin and distributed through Collector Packs.

What is Art Packs?

In the simplest terms, Art Packs is a platform for generative artists and collectors to release and collect artworks inscribed utilizing Ordinal Theory on the Bitcoin blockchain distributed through Collector Packs.

Art Packs is striving to innovate on a couple key aspects of generative art with a mission to make creation, collection and distribution fun, exciting and valuable again through this concept of Collector Packs which inherently establishes a tiered secondary market where artists, collectors, community and platform all benefit and contribute towards exciting drops and reveals.

Here's how it works

Art Packs offers a standardized release mechanism. Generative artists create and curate collections of 256 generative ARTifacts from outputs of their algorithmic creative code base. Each collection starts and gets distributed as 32 packs available for mint. Each pack contains 8 individual random ARTifacts from the collection.

The artist assigns rarity to each ARTifact in the collection which includes Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic classifications as well as a special Exotic designation which is explained further below.

Art Packs Collection Rarity

Each ARTifact in this collection of 256 is unique and considered a 1 of 1 of 256. Further, within the collection exists 128 Common, 64 Uncommon, 32 Rare, 16 Epic, 8 Legendary and 4 Mythic ARTifacts.

An additional 4 ARTifacts will be labeled Exotic, which are special ARTifacts that may have different content or distribution mechanism than the standard algorithmic ARTifacts. These Exotic ARTifacts are experimental and open for each artist to be creative in its content and/or distribution. For example, an artist might decide to make these ARTifacts be representative of extra or supporting content including cover art, early sketch(es), an article, text/poetry, a video, animations, a game, digital or physical redemptions, a golden ticket, a unique experience etc.

Creative methods of transfer and distribution can also come into play as well. The fact is, these Exotic ARTifacts are only limited to the artists creativity and it's going to be fun and exciting to discover all the new ways on how artists choose to use these limited Exotics to support and extend their collections.

Art Packs Pack Contents

Each pack contains 8 individual random ARTifacts. However, each pack will always include 4 Common, 2 Uncommon and 1 Rare. The remaining ARTifact is left up to chance and will either be an Epic (50% chance), Legendary (25% chance), Mythic (12.5% chance) or Exotic (12.5% chance).

To Break or Not to Break

Collectors of packs will have the option to open a pack to reveal and obtain the ARTifacts within it. This is termed a "pack break". The pack inscription will be burned and the 8 ARTifact inscriptions inside will be transferred to the collectors wallet immediately. These new ARTifacts join the total collection and can be individually held or traded on the secondary market with sales profits going straight to the pack collector.

Packs may also remain sealed and traded on the secondary market but the contents will always be unknown until the current owner performs a "pack break".

There's power in the Pack

The benefit of this concept of collector packs is superior to the traditional single mint mechanic. We think there's great power which can be obtained as far as value and longevity within the generative art landscape. One where the seriousness of fine art creation, appreciation, collecting and trading still reign true but with an added flair of DEGEN fun, excitement and opportunity during each pack break and reveal.

We understand this model won't come without some criticism. Pack prices, considering they each hold 8 individual ARTifacts with chances of great rarity, could be considered too expensive for some collectors. Also, at least at first, the number of unique holders stands to be much lower versus that of a single mint model. These caveats, however, are features and not bugs. These ideals don't detract but instead add more conviction, attention, longevity, pride, commitment and value for the artists, community and platform as a whole.

  • With a higher barrier to entry, only collectors with a serious interest into the collection gain such entry.

  • These initial pack collectors become the cornerstones of the community and stewards of the collections, creating greater scarcity and value from the ground up.

  • Pack collectors whom "break" their packs can set, stabilize and proliferate the secondary market with more thought and precision in regards to pricing. This greatly reduces one-and-done quick-flip speculators which often results in floor prices dropping below mint price as they exit for losses when the price doesn’t soar overnight.

  • Pack collectors become a voice box for the artists and community as they'll naturally want to part with some of their collection and will need to become vocal and creative to attract newcomers and secondary sales.

  • The potential rewards for early adopters and initial pack collectors is immense as it creates a tiered secondary distribution model and upside for those willing to obtain the packs first.

  • Collectors that want to hedge risk and just want to join the community by owning a single ARTifact can now browse a secondary market established by pack collectors for an exact artwork they love with the sales gains flowing directly to the pack collectors.

The Pack Collectors Dilemma

As pack breaks occur, ownership of the rarest ARTifacts will get revealed or not. This makes for an interesting secondary market of sealed packs as the owners have the decision to break packs and profit from the individual secondary sales of its contents or wait in hopes that others break packs first and rares go undiscovered, which means these rares still remain in a pack thus increasing the value of each remaining sealed pack.

"BIT L'ORDS" | Art Packs Genesis Collection

As a way to bootstrap the platform and at the same time reward early adopters, Art Packs will be kicking things off with a special genesis collection named "BIT L'ORDS" created by generative artist and founder Shane Richardson. This will be a special one off collection containing 4,096 ARTifacts as a generative art PFP with owners gaining utility and perks for future collections released on the Art Packs platform.

BIT L'ORDS Details and Roadmap

BIT L'ORDS will be distributed as 512 packs. Each pack will contain 8 generative art PFP ARTifacts including 4 Common, 2 Uncommon and 1 Rare. The remaining ARTifact in each pack will either be an Epic (50% chance), Legendary (25% chance), Mythic (12.5% chance) or Exotic (12.5% chance).

The sealed packs may be traded on the secondary market. However, within the Exotics rarity, half will be normal and half will be Golden. These 32 "Golden Exotics" are randomly hidden across the 512 packs (6.25% chance) and the owner that performs the "pack break", and discovers one, secures their wallet address into this role of "Golden Exotics" which grants them guaranteed allowlist access for all upcoming Art Packs collection drops.

Further, a couple days before any future collection is released, a snapshot will be taken of all BIT L'ORDS holders and these wallets will receive first-come-first-serve (FCFS) allowlist phase access pending there are mints remaining after the guaranteed allowlist phase. Any remaining mints beyond the the guaranteed and FCFS phases will be available to the public for all future collections.

The "Golden Exotics" will be a forever rotating group. The group is first established from the holders of the first 32 Golden Exotics ARTifacts found in the BIT L’ORDS packs. These holders have guaranteed allowlist access for upcoming drops on Art Packs. Each member that mints a pack from the next drop remains in the group. Any member(s) that decide not to mint during the guaranteed allowlist of the next drop are then replaced, in order of mint, by the next members that mint during the FCFS or public phases.

This allows members to drop in and out of guaranteed allowlist access when interest or means changes. These VIP members become stewards for the collections and should market and champion awareness with the goal to expand the community through new sales of single ARTifacts from the collections secondary markets.

If you've made it this far, you should know that ORDINALS ARE DEAD and this is probably nothing. However, if you want to have some fun with Bitcoin and Inscriptions and "break" some traditions, then join the Art Packs club . . .
